After 21 years, I’m finally allowing myself to grieve the school shooting I survived as a freshman. For so long, I believed my trauma didn’t “count” because I wasn’t directly in harm’s way. In this post, I reflect on the journey of accepting myself as a survivor and the importance of honoring our pain, no matter how small it may seem.
